A striking thought.....

Hi again... I'm back :)...lol

I thought I would mention something that I found somewhat confusing and baffling to me. As most of you know I live in Florida where it's the summer season where the electrical storm reign . Well...I was picking up some little goodies for a meeting I was holding from one of my neighborhood shopping markets just a few days ago and as I approached the cash register to check out the sky opened up and a real severe and intense storm was right on top of us.
The lightning bolts were visibly striking the parking lot just a matter of feet from where I was standing under the overhang trying to keep as dry as I could as I exited the store. The wall of water was immense as was the percussion of the thunder as it would push you back on each crack of lightning. In matter of seconds there was about 6 inches of water running on the ground and you could barely see inches in front of you. Well....what took me back some...was...... are you ready for this??? lol....hmmmmm
A male customer came out of the store about 5 mins after I did...carrying a long steel handled umbrella with a chintzy plastic handle and proceeded to open it and was starting to take steps to 'run' or 'walk' , I don't know which ,to his vehicle in the parking lot. Well....hmmmm...I suppose I should have just let him do that ...for he seemed so bent on being a McDonald's french fry....but I just couldn't be that 'stupid'..... as he was attempting to be! Not only that...if he thought I would run out there to perform cpr or closed heart massage after being struck and looking like a crispy critter...he had another thing coming. So I grabbed him and told him that his chances of making it to his vehicle without being struck is really a no brainer. I don't bet often, but I was willing to place a bet with my local 'bookie' that there was a 100% chance that he would be a toasted pop tart before he could even 'see' his vehicle ! He actually smiled at me and I could see him contemplating ignoring my plea for him to remain in some sort of shelter. I guess after he really realized that the electrical bolts were really intense and coming one right after the other or in some cases multiple strikes, he seemed to understand my urgency for him to just sit tight and wait out the storm. ...
You know...I can maybe accept one indvidual that doesn't put two and two together.....but lo and be hold wouldn't you know it....another customer with the steel shopping cart that most supermarkets have....also made the same attempt with a small child hanging on to it. Again, I had to stop them and talk some common sense into him. I just don't get it....
I may not be the brightest bulb in the pack....but heck...at least my 'filaments' are connected' ...lol ...What is wrong with these people ??
And when the inevitable happens due to the lack of common sense , they all cry...if they are still breathing ...'why me'.....lol
Good gosh people....Kentucky Fried Chicken has enough pigeons.....no need to contribute !!!
Anyhow....perhaps I saved a few lives that day....I don't know....but one thing is certain. As my old buddy and friend, Forrest Gump would say.............' Stupid is as Stupid does'.....enough said.....soooooooo........
Till next time America....
Keep your umbrellas handy for maybe even you might end up being a 'fried tomato' on a Burger King's Whopper !!!......lol
